Rotaract Club Wien-Stadtpark's main local service project is a cooperation with the Caritas Mother-Child shelter home in Vienna.

The Mother-Child house is a social accommodation for refugee families as well as mothers and their children who are temporarily homeless. The facility is run by Caritas, a church-associated organisation. As  a club, our main focus is to organise trips and cultural activities with the children in order to provide them with the best possible range of new experiences and a timeout from their everyday life.

Past trips included, inter alia, an educational course organised by the city of Vienna, where the children could build model ships and were able to learn a great deal about water, physics and the best way to get most of our members soaked. Other activities took the children into the zoo, museums, ice skating rings or playgrounds.

Rewarding as this project is, it also shows us that the inner child is still strong within all of us.
